Introduction
Let's say, you want to play the piece "Mandara-Kumano Kodou Travelogue" from Max Takano's book "Max to the Max" and you don't have time to make the registration for it.
What would be better than buying the original registration and use it for this piece? Unfortunately, buying registrations has become very difficult for people who don't understand Japanese.
But there is a way to do it. Simply follow these steps and you will be able to buy any STAGEA registration you want!
To do it you'll need the following:
- An USB flash drive (with ID!)
- A Credit Card
- Internet connection
- A lot of patience!
- Be able to use the Mailinator site or simply your own email address.
- Musicsoft Downloader (latest version).
Please install the Musicsoft Downloader before proceeding.
Step 1- Identify the data you need
Choose the titles you'll need the registration for. GGB Music is always a good site to consult for English translations of the Electone book titles.
For example, I need:
- Mandara-Kumano Kodou Travelogue
GTE742470 Stagea
- Flying theme from E.T.
GTE01082317 Stagea/EL
Step 2 - Find your book using the Yamaha Book Site
Go to the Yamaha Book Site.
Choose the Electone model you have. I chose STAGEA ELS-01 since I have a D-Deck.
Now it's gets a bit harder!
You have to find the books using the links on the left side of the website. These are categories of books. Whatever link you click on the red box here, you'll get to the complete list of registrations available.
Now a very long list appears. Of course all the titles of the books and songs are in Japanese! here you need patience and search the books using:
- Grade numbers of the book
- Volume number of the book
- Book category
There are no GTExxxxxxxx numbers here! I found the link for the Max Takano book I need. So I click on it.
To find the title you need compare the Japanese title in your book and to the title on this web page.
Did you find it? Click on the Add To Cart symbol to the right of the price of the song!
Now you will see what you have added to your shopping cart:
Use your browser's Back Arrow to go back until you see the long book list again and search for other songs (here using Firefox).
Step 3 - Buy the data
When you have added all the books you need to the shopping cart you can proceed with buying the data. Here is my shopping cart:
Click on the brown button (red box in the screenshot) near the bottom to proceed with your order.
On the next screen click on the button in the left section (green box) to log in as guest:
I would rather not give my email address. So now we're gonna cheat by using an anonymous email address from Mailinator. Sorry for this!
I use a temporary email address (registdata@mailinator.com) to identify myself for this transaction. Normally you won't even need an email address to buy the data. Except if you buy the data and accidentally close the website window.
The first two fields are the email address and the confirmation.
The third and fourth row are something like an identifying code or PIN. I just copied and pasted some random Japanese symbols I don't even understand.
The last line is a 12 code telephone number. Again I just made up some random numbers.
Then I click on the blue right box. Now we'll leave our credit card details. To do this click on the blue box.
Now insert your details:
Then click on the yellow box.
Confirm your order again with the yellow box.
Step 4 - Download the data to the Musicsoft Downloader
Click on the symbols at the right side of the page (purple boxes). These are the download links for the protected files. You can click and download each file only up to two times!
I'll load each file separately to the Musicsoft Downloader and store it on my USB drive.
I clicked on the first file. A download window appears. Now you have to get the file from the Musicsoft Downloader to your USB flash drive. I use the German version of this program.
You have to choose the right location of your data! Click on the big blue arrow to move the data to your stick. Only move data around using the Musicsoft Downloader!
Click again on the same link to download your backup file! Please ignore the files I already have on the flash drive in this example.
You see that the name of the new file is a bit strange! We'll fix that in the next step.
Step 5 - Rename your data
At this point you have the data you need and can play it right now! But first we'll try to give it a proper name that we can read the titles easier.
Open the .nam file in the right folder on your USB drive with a Text Editor. You'll see something like this:
S001:SONGNAME = Bohemian Rhapsody ELS01
S001:FOLDER = SONG_001
S001:SECURITY = ON
S001:MODEL = ELS-01
S001:PART_UK = OFF
S001:PART_LK = OFF
S001:PART_PK = OFF
S001:PART_LEAD = OFF
S001:PART_KBP = OFF
S001:PART_CTRL = OFF
S001:PART_XG = OFF
S001:BLKFILE_001 = REG_001.B00
S001:BLKFILE_002 = REG_002.B00
S001:BLKFILE_003 = REG_003.B00
S001:BLKFILE_004 = REG_004.B00
S001:BLKFILE_005 = REG_005.B00
S001:SECFILE = S00476B0.C02
S002:SONGNAME = Star Wars Medley ELS01

S002:BLKFILE_002 = REG_002.B00
S002:BLKFILE_003 = REG_003.B00
S002:BLKFILE_004 = REG_004.B00
S002:BLKFILE_005 = REG_005.B00
S002:SECFILE = S00479B0.C02
S003:SONGNAME = Hyokkori Hyoutan Island ELS01
S003:FOLDER = SONG_001
S003:SECURITY = ON
S003:MODEL = ELS-01
S003:PART_UK = OFF
S003:PART_LK = OFF
S003:PART_PK = OFF
S003:PART_LEAD = OFF
S003:PART_KBP = OFF
S003:PART_CTRL = OFF
S003:PART_XG = OFF
S003:BLKFILE_001 = REG_001.B00
S003:SECFILE = S00477B0.C02
S004:SONGNAME = o䶗@ 01 STAGEA߰(5-3)Vol 4
S004:FOLDER = SONG_001
S004:SECURITY = ON
S004:MODEL = ELS-01
S004:PART_UK = OFF
S004:PART_LK = OFF
S004:PART_PK = OFF
S004:PART_LEAD = OFF
S004:PART_KBP = OFF
S004:PART_CTRL = OFF
S004:PART_XG = OFF
S004:BLKFILE_001 = REG_001.B00
S004:BLKFILE_002 = REG_002.B00
S004:BLKFILE_003 = REG_003.B00
S004:BLKFILE_004 = REG_004.B00
S004:BLKFILE_005 = REG_005.B00
S004:BLKFILE_006 = REG_006.B00
S004:SECFILE = S00478A0.C02
In this example we want to change the entry "S004:SONGNAME = o䶗@ 01 STAGEA߰(5-3)Vol 4" to "Mandara-Kumano Kodou Travelogue ELS01". As you can see, I bought some files earlier and have already changed their names. It can be hard to know what the symbols mean. Change the title to something that makes sense to you. You'll need to use a bit of intuition!
Now save the modified .nam file.
Do the same to your backup file. You downloaded each file twice, right? See above.
Step 6 - Enjoy your new Stagea data!
Your Stagea will list the data in the order as shown in the .nam file. Click on the play button and do any performance instructions suggest on the score.
Helpful Hints
Did you close the registration buying website accidentally?
If you have lost your links you can retrieve them by checking the inbox of the email address you supplied in the checkout process.
For example, if you used a temporary Mailinator address like registdata@mailinator.com then you can find your data link email there.
It's best to archive these important emails somewhere locally so you can more easily refer to them. Email in the temporary Mailinator account will disappear!
Have fun with the new Stagea data!
