Electone wasn't my first instrument I learnt. I was with Yamaha since I was 4 years old., taking JMC up to AXC and then I stopped. I was a piano major throughout the course.
It was then in early 90s but situaton was same like now, all the students in the class uses electones for lessons.
I remember I was always fascinated how we need to play on 2 levels of keyboard and the got many different sounds.
And sometimes I would accidentally pressed the rhythm and suddenly loud 8beat would be heard and freak me out.
And sometimes we would do ensemble, I remember sometimes my mom would help me if I m chosen to do the pedaling.
Well all that's just simple playing, never before I know how an electone is properly played.
And then I stop from music for total 12 years. Until my college years, I don't remember how it come along, I suddenly went to take up Pop Piano course at Yamaha again. Being back to Yamaha, feels so warm, seeing some clerks that actually recognizes me, knowing me since I was 4 years old.
But I was on the course for almost 2 months only, with a teacher not so passionate to teach me I feel, perhaps because I am an adult learner? No idea. But I had to stop, as I started working, my lessons was on a weekday. Just right before I was about to stop going to Yamaha again, I saw the poster about Electone Festivals.
curious as I am, as I seen the newest model of electone at the showroom of Yamaha, the electone Stagea, I decided to grab 2 tickets to the show, bringing my mom along. Going to that show was really a big eye opener for both me and my mom. I never knew electone could do such thing. Playing a song like as real as you're listening to a band or an orchestra playing, controling it with all your hands and legs. I was totally amazed! So do my mom.
And there also where I feel in love with the song Ayura.
And guess what, and I decided taking up electone. My mom was shocked. One of the reason why my mom didn't let me take up electone when I was young was because I was born with cerebral palsy and having problems with my motors, especially my legs. She thinks I will have problem stepping the pedals. So I was stuck with piano.
But I was so sure I wanted to take up electone and try it out anyways. I started to look for teachers. When I found one, I actually went to talk to him and told him my problems and I just wanted to try if it works for me or not.
And there I go, started my electone lessons.
I remember my first week of lesson was quite suffer. Having cramps after lessons and all. My teacher was more worried than I was. But months goes by and then I decided to really do it, I got my first electone, the electone Stagea Mini ELB-01.
If you knew me, you'll propably know how crazy I am with Stagea. Loving the sound a lot!
So there, now I am learning electone still, 2 years already. And I am still loving it. Tho I am still having problems with pedaling, but working on it. And having a great teacher really motivated me to go on till now.
