Hi guys,
Well, I own a Yamaha Electone EL-100 bought in 2005 and now that I'm Grade 5 in Yamaha, I think it kind of sucks. But I still remember how excited and happy I was when my mother said that she bought an Electone for me.
And guess what? I'm only 11. Living in Singapore.
What I like about EL-100 is it's bilingual operating system (Jap and Eng). It also has a 'compatibility mode'. It can convert songs that are meant for bigger and better models like EL-900M, Stagea and so on. Most of the time, it sounds OK. But sometimes, some voices are not working! NO SOUND AT ALL!!!
I also like its Simple XG Converter. Well, although it is really very simple and the results and simply crap, but it's fun doing weird conversions and listening to crappy rhythms and sounds. With XG, I can also play my songs on my Windows PC (although I don't really need to).
What's lacking is a USB drive and touchscreen. USB is much more convenient, and Sony Japan has already decided to stop producing floppy diskettes from like next year already ( I guess it's company by company). Also, touchscreen is important! I hate having to use the four( or eight?) rectangular buttons to navigate through the screen. Also, the screen is awfully TINY! Song names are also unable to be displayed fully. Last but not least, the MDR needs a renaming function! I hate the MDR naming my recordings Song 1, Song 2, blah blah blah.
Although EL-100 is lousy, but it enables me to recall the day when I got my electone in July 2005. 5 years old! Happy birthday, EL-100!
